Label Settings

The Label tab configures the physical dimensions of the barcode labels the system generates when you print labels from the Jobs page or the Orders page. You set the width and height in millimeters; the system formats the PDF to those exact dimensions, ready for your label printer.

Use this tab to:

  • Match your label printer’s media. Most thermal label printers expect a fixed media size — set the system to match.
  • Adjust spacing for the content on the label (logo, job name, barcode, custom fields).
  • Preview the proportions before you waste a roll of labels figuring out you set 50×30 when you meant 100×60.

That’s it — just two numbers and a Save button. Everything else about the label (what fields appear on it, whether the logo is shown, which custom fields are included) is controlled per-template or per-job.


Two numeric inputs:

Set both to your label printer’s media size. Outside the 20–300 range the form rejects the value and shows a validation error.


A dashed-border box on the page shows the label at 2× scale — the on-screen rectangle is the configured width and height in millimeters, scaled by 2 to be visible on a normal display.

Change either dimension and the preview updates instantly. Useful for sanity-checking that a label intended as “landscape 100×50” doesn’t accidentally come out as “portrait 50×100”.

The preview is proportional only — it doesn’t show what content will actually appear on the label, just the shape of the page.


Click Save to apply. The new dimensions take effect immediately for every PDF generated afterwards. Already-printed labels are unaffected (they’re paper; you can’t reflow them).

Check your label printer’s documentation for the exact media size it expects. Most thermal printers fail gracefully (misalignment) rather than catastrophically when given the wrong size, but you’ll waste labels finding out.

The label content (what appears on it) is determined by the job’s template (Job Templates → Custom Fields with Display on label flagged), the job itself (ref no, SKU, qty, name), and the General Settings (logo, company name).


  • Set this before your first print run. Resizing later doesn’t waste anything, but printing 200 labels at the wrong size does.
  • Check your printer media size. The system can’t auto-detect — it formats the PDF to whatever you tell it, and your printer scales (or doesn’t) accordingly.
  • Use the preview before saving. A 30-second visual check beats a 30-minute reprint.
  • Round to standard sizes. Off-spec dimensions (47.5 × 31.2) can confuse printers; standard sizes (50 × 30) are safer.
  • Wider than tall for shipping, square or tall for product tags — match the aspect ratio to the content density you expect.
  • One label size per shop. If you genuinely need two formats (a shipping label and a product label), let support know — the current setup is global.
  • Test print before a full run. Print one job to a single label first, eyeball it, then run the batch.
